Dr.S.Subramania Pillai earned 3 Doctorate Degrees - One in History(1993) Second one in Gandhian Studies (2002) and the Third one in Tourism Development(2009). Apart from this, Dr.S.Subramania Pillai got creditable pass in M.A.(Gandhian Thought),M.T.M.(Master of Tourism Management), M.A.(Political Science) and M.A.(Public Administration). To his credit Dr.S.Subramania Pillai was selected as "Visiting Research Associate"by the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Simla Himachal Pradesh for the academic years 1990-2001 and availed three spells of Associateship.

| Dr.S.Subramania Pillai has served in Arignar Anna College in various positions as staff Advisor, Rotaract club(10 years), NSS Programme Officer for 7 years and Programme Officer Youth Red Cross (YRC) for 3 years. |
| He has published 15 research articles in various reputed National journals. So far he has guided 29 students for getting their M.Phil. degrees. His fields of interest are Administrative History (Modern period) and Subaltern History. Further he has completed one Minor Research Project and one Major Research Project funded by the UGC,NewDelhi. To attend and present invited talks in various academics conference, he has visited a number of Indian Universities. |
| Apart from his academic positions and creditability, he is serving in various administrative positions as Member Senate and Member Syndicate, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli representing the Principal's of affiliated colleges of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University.
